The File Clerk needs to possess a positive attitude, general knowledge of a basic filing system (the ability to alphabetize and understand date range processes), the ability to follow instructions, and communicate respectfully and professionally with supervisors and all levels of employees.
Job Time Frame and Work Hours: This is a 16 hour a week position June through August, Monday through Thursday; 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Job Responsibilities: Work with both paper documents and electronic files, and perform routine tasks such as filing, organization, scanning, copying and retrieval.
Add documents to hard copy files as needed and insure files are well organized. Sort material accurately in accordance with filing system in place. Create labels as necessary.
Scan files to be entered into digital database. Ensure files are updated and accessible. Maintain and arrange file room. Move existing records in the filing cabinets to make room for new files. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Student with a minimum of 2 years high school education
Previous employment experience in a professional environment preferred, but not required. Good working knowledge of basic office machines, i.e. copiers, scanners. Basic computer skills and a working knowledge of all Microsoft Office products, i.e. Word, Excel, and familiarity with Adobe
Personal Skills: Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), ability to follow instructions and carry out assignments accurately, excellent organizational skills, and excellent time management skills
Physical Abilities: Must be able to physically stand for long periods of time, Must be able to lift up to 25# repetitively.
